About Me
My name is Leopoldo Gonzalez, the principal
consultant for sqaMethods; a consulting company whose goal is to teach
Software Testing to individuals who would like to make Software QA their career.
I started my career in Software
Development back in 1984 as a computer operator, when the personal computer was
starting to take hold.
I fell in love with the idea that I can
create a set of instructions for the computer to execute, so I got a job at a
company called Alpha Microsystems as a computer programmer. I enjoyed
writing code, but the birth of my son necessitated that I would leave Alpha
Microsystems to find something closer to home, this is where I found Software
Testing.
I became a Software Tester for a company
called Health Data Sciences Corp. in San Bernardino, CA in 1991. While I
knew all of the technical aspects of writing a computer program, I knew nothing
of formal software testing; my job was 100% ad-hoc testing of change requests.
This was a very scary part of my career since I was performing duties which I
had no formal training. How do I know if I'm doing a good job when the
activities and results were so ambiguous?
I remember one time after a meeting where
we talked about the upcoming GUI project, the product manager told me "I want
you to test this program to the level where you need to ensure that the event
attached to a button does not happen unless the mouse button is released ...
".
That was scary! It is scary because
that made me realize that just like that trigger, there were hundreds of other
triggers that needed to be tested. Granted, the mouse-down event was
outside the scope of the project, but nevertheless it made me realize that
testing an application was far more complicated than I had anticipated.
It is with that same realization in mind that now; 16 years later, I found
myself thinking about all of the individuals that may be in the same scenario I
was, and would need a little help figuring out how to do software testing.
That's the reason why I created this workshop, to provide the insight 16 years
of software testing has given me.
I don't claim that I can teach you software testing in a 1-day workshop, but
what I can guarantee you is that you will have a great starting point. I
have put a lot of thought into the material that's in the workshop. We
will talk about the activities that are important to perform your duties as a
tester and the tools you will need to ensure that you are doing it right.
Join me at one of the available workshops, I'd love to hear your story and
help you in any way I can.
Sincerely,
Leopoldo A. Gonzalez |
